With the decline in new and replacement heating oil installations over recent years, the introduction of new oil tank models has become a lot less frequent. But one manufacturer bucking the trend and facing the future with confidence is Carbery Plastics Limited.
Established in 1977, Carbery produced its first plastic heating oil tank over 30 years ago. Since then, the West Cork based business has gone from strength to strength, enjoying success and building market share not just in the UK and Republic of Ireland, but in mainland Europe too.
Recently, the pioneering storage tank manufacturer unveiled the latest addition to its range of environmentally preferred, bunded tanks, in the guise of an all-new 2500 Jumbo Bunded. Ideal for the storage of heating oil at larger, domestic installations the new 2500 Jumbo Bunded is a direct replacement for the outgoing model of the same name. Whilst its 2,471 litres capacity, is actually 130 litres greater than the model it replaces – remarkably, the new model is 250mm narrower and 70mm shorter than the old.
Like all Carbery Bunded Heating Oil Tanks, the new 2500 Jumbo Bunded is approved by the experts at The Oil Firing Technical Association (OFTEC) and OFCERT licensed to OFS T100. More importantly, it’s also CE marked and fully compliant with EN13341 – a legal requirement for all new storage tanks sold in the UK and throughout the European Union today. Additionally, recognising the growing importance of European sales to Carbery, the tank is also Kiwa certified and Vlarem II approved.
Standard specification includes a 5” inspection aperture, 2” BSP fill point, 2” weatherproof venting, lockable equipment hatch, telemetry port and a factory fitted 1” BSP outlet. A wide range of options is available including a choice of Apollo fuel tank monitoring systems, fitting kits and outlet options.
Carbery’s Cal McCarthy says, “In both single skin and bunded guises, the outgoing Jumbo model was an established best-seller within the Carbery range and a firm favourite with heating oil tank installers. In developing the new model, we’ve sought to build upon the strengths of the old, developing a product designed to exceed the expectations of homeowners, householders, installers, fuel distributors and technicians alike.
“In response to installer feedback, we’ve applied similar design principles to those which guided the development of our market leading 1000SB Superslim Bunded Tank. So whilst we’ve increased storage capacity by c.6%, at the same time our engineering team has managed to reduce the 2500 Jumbo’s base area by c.17%. The result is a product which is easier to handle, easier to install and which takes up less valuable lawn space than its predecessor, as well as some competitor tanks too.”
Carbery’s new 2500 Jumbo Bunded is now in production at the company’s production facilities in Clonakilty, West Cork and available to order from Carbery resellers in the Republic of Ireland, UK, Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
