Scottish fuel supplier James D Bilsland Limited, which has its headquarters in Drymen, near Stirling, have recently announced the take over of Kilmarnock-based fuel supplier Andrew Gray & Co Fuels for £2.8m
James D Bilsland was set up in 1964, operating just one lorry delivering tractor diesel and vaporising oil to local farmers. It has grown to become one of the leading operators in the oil and gas industry with a £16m annual turnover and employing 30 people.
Kilmarnock based Andrew Gray & Co Fuels was established more than 80 years ago and employs 19 people.
The Andrew Gray name will remain and operate as a standalone company.
The two companies will operate 36 lorries from eight depots, located in Oban, Rothesay, Drymen, Kilmarnock, Douglas, Carlisle, and employ 49 people.
James Bilsland, managing director of James D Bilsland, said: “Andrew Gray & Co has an outstanding reputation. We’ll continue to deliver the same high standard of customer service and build on that reputation.”
James Bilsland concluded “The acquisition makes sense on many levels, but also enables us to cover additional geographies, taking us into Ayrshire including the Isle of Arran.
Supplying domestic heating oil, commercial and agricultural fuel, bottled and bulk gas this acquisition is sure to cement Bilslands position as a top industry operator and investor into the off-grid energy sector in Scotland.
