OFTEC successfully shone a light on home heating at SelfBuild Live Belfast, encouraging homeowners to love their oil boiler.
Throughout last weekend at the Titanic Exhibition centre, OFTEC, which represents the domestic oil heating industry in Northern Ireland, was on hand to ensure homeowners were aware of the benefits of oil home heating, and also to offer advice on important annual boiler servicing.
With over 20,000 people attending the show from Friday 16th – Sunday 18th February, OFTEC was able to provide expert advice to homeowners; those interested in switching to an oil heating boiler, and those upgrading from an older model.
Heating fuel continually warms the homes of Northern Ireland, with the Sutherland Tables January 2018 revealing that oil heating enjoys the largest market share as the cheapest fuel over the past four years.
OFTEC was advising consumers on the importance of an annual home heating service by an OFTEC registered technician to increase an oil boiler’s efficiency and reduce annual fuel bills. An annual service is recommended by the Health and Safety Executive and the Consumer Council NI.
David Blevings, OFTEC Ireland Manager said: “An oil boiler is like any mechanical product – it needs serviced to ensure it is burning fuel safely and efficiently. Boilers often run 365 days a year providing space heating and hot water – it is vital they are serviced annually. Since we moved to condensing boiler technology several years ago, more customers are seeing the benefits of this new boiler technology, in savings, choice and value. A new condensing oil boiler can save homeowners up to 25%, or approximately £273 off an annual heating bill.
He remarked on the impact of the exhibition: “The SelfBuild Live Belfast exhibition was a huge success for OFTEC. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with the local people, offering advice and educating them on the benefits of oil home heating. It was important for us to share the message that annual services by our OFTEC registered technicians are essential to ensure that all is running smoothly within a household”.
