OilFiredUp.com receives a Makeover – OilFiredUp

The leading web resource for the oil heating and fuel storage industry across the British Isles is now back online, after being offline, as the site received a comprehensive makeover.

Originally established in 2004, OilFiredUp.com became quickly established as the leading web resource for the oil heating and fuel storage industry in the United Kingdom, combining a healthy mix of news, features and original editorial. A year later, and OilFiredUp.com built upon its initial success and launched the world’s first English language search engine, dedicated specifically to the oil heating and fuel storage industry.

In 2008, Edinburgh based OilFiredUp.com News Management Services assumed control of OilFiredUp.com. Fully committed to the continued success and growth of the website, OilFiredUp.com News Management Services undertook a significant investment programme in the site, in conjunction with Ulster based e-business specialists, Crafty Devil.

According to Crafty Devil’s Phil Norton, “The new website stays true to the original’s philosophy of providing free, easily accessible and news rich content to those with an interest in the UK oil heating and fuel storage industry. However, with the launch of the new website, we’ve instigated some significant behind the scenes changes, to provide visitors with an enriched and added-value browsing experience.

“The new site has been rewritten from beginning to end and we’ve taken the opportunity to include a number of new features within the site. A wide range of new and innovative ‘back end’ functionalities and a new analytics suite, that were not present on the original site, have been added – to make the administration section of the website, site even quicker and easier to manage.

“The OilFiredUp.com Search Engine which was always one of the most popular aspects of the site has been migrated on to an all-new platform, provided by Sphider.eu. This allows search results to be returned in a more visitor friendly manner and in a format that it similar to more mainstream search engines.

“In a sign of the times and following intense discussions between Crafty Devil and OilFiredUp.com News Management Services, the decision was made to remove the Newsletter function from the website and to replace it with an RSS Feed. As well as reducing administration for OilFiredUp.com News Management Services, the RSS Feed also provides visitors to the site with greater control over the information they received and by utilising the services of third party RSS Newsreaders.”

The response to the new website from visitors has been encouraging, with a record number of visitors to the site on its first day back online at http://www.oilfiredup.com. As well as trying out the new Search Engine, visitors have also been busy perusing the website’s Directory Guide to the UK’s Oil Heating and Fuel Storage Industry, together with over 700 current and archive News stories
