NEA, SSE And DECC Launch Autumn Fuel Poverty Seminars
Last month, HM Government put down draft regulations to create a new fuel poverty target, which sought to ensure that as many fuel poor homes as possible achieve a minimum energy efficiency rating of Band C by 2030.
The next step is for government to formulate a strategy to realise those lofty ambitions. To help, the Westminster Government has published “Cutting the cost of keeping warm – a consultation to help prepare for a new fuel poverty strategy”. The consultation, which was published alongside the draft regulations is open until 7th. October and asks for views to improve the design and delivery of policy to address fuel poverty.
To help government help itself, National Energy Action (NEA) in partnership with SSE and the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) is organising 6 half-day seminars across England to engage with interested stakeholders during the consultation. The events are designed to ensure that local agencies, local authorities, housing associations, energy professionals and other interested parties get a better understanding of Government thinking, share best practice and contribute to the development of energy strategy.
Currently, it is planned to hold the following seminars:
- 4th. September 2014 London
- 11th. September 2014 Peterborough
- 15th. September 2014 Scarborough
- 24th. September 2014 Newcastle
- 25th. September 2014 Bristol
- 2nd. October 2014 Manchester
All seminars with the exception of the Scarborough seminar are scheduled to be held in the morning. The Scaborough seminar is set for the afternoon. Attendance is free, but pre-registration is essential. Click here to reserve your place via the NEA website.
