UKLPG, the trade association for the LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) industry is looking for a new chief executive to replace its long-standing leader Rob Shuttleworth, who is retiring after 11 successful years at the forefront of the energy sector.
After more than a decade spearheading the strategic direction of the LPG industry in a rapidly evolving regulatory and technology landscape, Shuttleworth has helped to reinforce the industry’s role in the Government’s ambitions to clean up heat in off gas grid Britain, curb harmful emissions in urban areas and promote the safe use of LPG in a wide range of applications.
His replacement will play a pivotal role in setting the future direction of the industry over the next 10 years as the UK Government seeks to decarbonise heating in homes and businesses, and will lead the UKLPG team to implement agreed outcomes and objectives in the policy arena, public relations and setting industrywide technical standards.
Shuttleworth explains: “It has been a pleasure to oversee such a dynamic and diverse industry and as it continues to grow to meet the UK’s future energy challenges, this will be a very exciting role for the next chief executive.
“As a low carbon fuel, LPG has become increasingly relevant over the past decade as it has adapted to the latest energy efficient technologies. As a widely available and versatile fuel, it is well positioned to help the UK meet its carbon reduction target as it looks for reliable solutions to meet heat demand in both commercial and domestic properties off the gas grid.
“The LPG industry supplies over one million tonnes of gas into the UK every year and has a key role to play in providing secure, affordable and clean energy to homes and businesses throughout rural Britain. It is also the foremost portable energy in the UK supporting a wide range of applications from camping and caravanning to street food and hot air ballooning, as well as playing a role in delivering cleaner fuel to power cars and vans. This makes working in the LPG sector extremely interesting and diverse. I am looking forward to seeing members continuing to work together to meet the opportunities that will arise in future.”
Based in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, UKLPG represents 99 members involved in supplying LPG or servicing the industry and the chief executive reports into the Board of the Association.
